Just a few miles into the Exmouth Rideout, PB & I had a close shave
Travelling downhill & slowing for a Roundabout i touched the rear brake & BANG ...I thought the motor had seized, but the REAR BRAKE RETAINING ARM shattered, loosing a good length which flew past PB who was behind me
The wheel didn't lock but the back plate was flying around hitting the swing arm bending the adjusting rod around the spindle
The retaining arm had sheered across 100mm from the rear end, only a thin outer layer of metal & the rest internal rust
I think i got off light, Thanks to Sue & Bob who were following a few minutes behind, Bob gave me a lift back to pick up my trailer while Sue waited with the bike, Thanks again guys.
I have the spare parts, so should be OK for next weekends Bikefest
